Dolly had her pups yesterday.. We have 13 pups! Preliminary count shows 5 black/white females, 6 liver/white males, and 2 black/white males. So far Mom and all of the pups look ok. We have no runts. All are approximately the same size. I’ll be supplementing the feeding…. This is the largest litter we’ve ever had… 13 is a lot of pup for one mother to feed. Although the pups look good right now and all are doing well, I’ve done this long enough to know that anything can happen so whether we have 13 when they are ready to go to their new homes is anyone’s guess.

We lost our old “Tess” last night. She had been going downhill for a few weeks and passed away peacefully here at home last night. She was a great dog. I got her from Tom Meyers (Wisconsin) as a pup. She was out of NFC Denalisunflo’s Ring and NAFC Kane’s Bluff Creek Annie. She was mother to our “Lil”. She’ll be missed…

Echo had her pups on October 13th. We have 4 females and 2 males. All are sold.

We lost our old dog, “Tonka” to cancer in May. She was the reason I breed Chessies today. She sold me on the breed. Thanks to Alan from the Browndog Forum for creating this colage for me. Tonka was a credit to the breed in every respect.

New Kennel Building Nearing Completion
Our new kennel building is getting closer to being finished. We started on it last summer (2008). We still need to do the wiring, put up the chain link for the runs, build the doghouses, etc. but we should have a nice building with indoor/outdoor runs by the end of the summer.

Oh Tim –
I’m sorry to hear that you lost your dear pup. Her son Moose is still going strong and is a very lovable boy. He’s quite a character and we love him to bits.
Take care and thank you again for delivering us such a great pup!

Tim my good friend. It was so good to catch up with you, and so sad to hear about Tonka. When you say she is the reason you breed Chesapeakes, I can deeply relate. You could not ask for a kinder, or more loyal girl. Her and Beau produced some of the nicest pups around, and as he is in the twilight of his life, the Chessie world will be well represented by their offspring. I know Tonks is jumping over a fence with a bird in her mouth as I write this. She will be missed. Take care, Gordy.
