Predicting Breeding Dates and When Pups Will Be Available

The time period between heat cycles can vary considerably… Dogs usually do not come into heat every 6 months. It can vary from 4 to 10 or 12 months between cycles, so it is difficult for us to predict when one of our dogs will come into heat. I keep records of all heat cycles so I know when a dog had her last heat cycle, but trying to determine if that dog will come back into heat again in 4, 6, or 10 months is really a shot in the dark. So, when we post a planned breeding keep in mind that it could take place within a period of several weeks to a few months from our best estimate.
