Chewy the Wonder dog~ ~ The Obnoxious Dachshund

So, what’s an obnoxious Dachshund doing on a website for Chessies and Springers? Good question (no, we don’t breed dachshunds…he’s “fixed”). Chewy was a rescue project….I came home from work one day when my son was in junior high school and he’d drug Chewy home with him. He’d been through a couple of families and was needing a home so we ended up with him. He was 40 pounds when we got him!! We’ve tried to trim him down (we’ve had him 7 or 8 years now), but he’s such a chow hound it’s almost impossible as he finds all sorts of things to eat that we don’t give him. I think we got him down under 30 pounds now, but we can’t seem to get him any trimmer.
Chewy thinks he can run with the big dogs…. He swims with them, goes with me when I exercise them, etc. (although he’s starting to slow down quite a bit now). He guards the house, sleeps with the cat, and eats….

I’ve seen this wonder dog in person and I can’t beleive how long he can balance him
self…..especially if there’s food to be had….
